Greater Network Bandwidths Has Meant That Streaming Movies Is Easy

These days being able to watch movies online has become commonplace. Advances in computer networking technology and most people owning powerful home computers has meant increased incidences of people being able to stream movies from online movie streaming companies straight onto their laptops and watch movies in the comfort of their own homes.

With the digital media age well and truly upon us, there is also increasing consumer demand now for streaming high definition (HD) content into people’s homes and the industry in a market place where the technologically is rapidly moving forward, is working very hard to enable HD streaming without the need for new networking cables to be installed.

Increasingly, customers also want live streaming to facilitate the streaming of football matches, for example, and certain media sites have been prompted to provide Live Streaming services to users. Generally a media stream is either live or on demand. The former is called true streaming where the media is sent direct to the home computer where nothing is saved and the film is watched in real time. However, there is also progressive streaming where files can be saved to disk and then played later.

Online movie sites usually provide movies free to their online members. To be able to watch these movies instantly without downloading, they ask for people to join their online movie club. Then members are offered large selections of movies to watch from Action, Comedy, Family and Fantasy through to Sci-fi, Thrillers and War, some in HD quality. They more or less guarantee that their streaming facilities will work as well on a pc as a Mac and that no special software is required to see the film.

At iReel we provide a large selection of films from many popular genres that can be streamed through us directly to your computer and watched online. Instead of watching a repeat on the television, do something much more interesting.

An absorbing and unexpected analysis of the way popular films influence our view of the law. The popular culture of American law has never played a larger role than it does today in shaping the way we think about lawyers and the legal system. Our very definition of justice is now inseparable from motion picture and television images and popular legal narratives, from Hollywood westerns and O. J. Simpson to Law and Order and John Grisham. In Movies on Trial, law professor and movie aficionado Anthony Chase sorts out some of the complex and often contradictory notions Americans have about the legal system. He uses movies to investigate and inventory many of our deepest beliefs about law and politics, and provides a strong historical and intellectual context throughout. Analyzing Dirty Harry and True Believer for their commentary on the Miranda ruling and criminal procedure, and explaining tort law via The Verdict and A Civil Action, Chase also employs Three Kings to reveal changes in international law and The Rise to Power of Louis XIV to explore the rise of the modern state. Through the lens of film, he is able to describe and analyze the symbiosis between the image of law and its actual practice in our cultural imagination, in a genuinely illuminating and entertaining book. Movies discussed include: All the President’s Men • Anatomy of a Murder • Ben and Me • A Civil Action • Dirty Harry • Erin Brockovich • Fight Club • The Gingerbread Man • Heart of Glass • Italy: Year One • Johnny Tremain • Judgment at Nuremberg • A Man for All Seasons • The Marriage of Maria Braun • The Parallax View • The Rainmaker • Revolution • The Rise to Power of Louis XIV • Silkwood • Three Kings • Touch of Evil • Traffic/Traffik • True Believer • The Verdict • Wilson • Young Mr. Lincoln

The Manchurian Candidate, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, The Graduate, Rosemary’s Baby, Chinatown, Dick Tracy. The common factor behind these diverse, visually ground-breaking cinematic masterpieces is the work of legendary production designer Richard Sylbert. Basing the book in part on the late designer’s Hollywood memoirs, writer Sylvia Townsend, with the participation of Sylbert’s widow, screenwriter Sharmagne Sylbert, has enhanced the production designer’s original manuscript with candid interviews from some of his most famous collaborators, including Warren Beatty, Roman Polanski, and Francis Ford Coppola. The result is a book that takes readers behind the scenes of some of the most influential and highly acclaimed films of the past fifty years. This is a portrait of a highly driven, sometimes tempestuous visionary who wasn’t afraid to fight for the artistic integrity of the worlds he created on screen. Movie lovers will find in-depth discussions of the making of such modern classics as Reds, Carnal Knowledge, Shampoo, and The Cotton Club. More than thirty illustrations capture Sylbert’s creative process from early sketches to completed sets and locations.
